Munsiari
the base for this trek in Pithoragarh distict of Kumaon, which can be reached
in 2 full days from Delhi either via Kathgodam or Tanakpur. It is a most important
base for Ralam, Namik, Poting, Milam Glaciers. Munsiari is on the arterial water
body of Gauriganga which emerges from the Milam Glacier system of the eastern
flanks of the Nanda Devi Sanctury, fed also by the Kalabaland Glacier and the
Panchichullu from further east.
The Milam glacier snout at 3872 metres is not the only objective of the trek
route indicated but also the nodal point for a variety of high grade routes
and peaks. Majsiari is located at the bank of Gauri Ganga stream at an altitude
of 2290 metres is last road terminus on this route. Provision for food, porters
can be done here.
Permit to visit Milam Area can be obtained from S.D.M., Munisiari.

Trekking to Milam Glacier
Day 01 : DELHI - HARIDWAR
Day 02 : HARIDWAR - GWALDHAM MUNSIYARI
Day 03 : MUNSIYARI (Full Day Rest). Overnight in Tents.
Day 04 : MUNSIYARI - LILAM. Munsyari 2290m is very famous
as Kailash Mansrover trek also goes through this place. By the time these lines
were being written road for Lilam was being constructed. The 12 km steady descent
trek to LILAM. Overnight in Tents. LILAM - BUGDYAR. Gradual ascending and some
ups and downs through scenic meadows and shepherd pasture. Steep ascending to
reach Lilam Ridge 2850m. Overnight in Tents.
Day 06 : BUGDYAR - MARTOLI. Gradual ascending via village
Railkot 3100m. Martoli has very old history as people used to trade with Tibet
in old times. But now a deserted village which is slowly coming forward to house
a few due to trekkers and climbers who likes to spend weeks, months here. A
high plateau of grassy fields situated at 3430m. Distance covered is 14 km.

Day 07 : MARTOLI - MILAM VILLAGE. Milam used to be a village
of Rajputs who some from Rajasthan and they do not like to be called Bhotias
or Tibetans. Although they had been trading animals and dairy products, many
house hold items with Tibet upto 1962.. Overnight in Tents.
Day 08 : MILAM VILLAGE - MILAM GLACIER. This short and easy
trail is full of scenic view and spectacular vision of high Himalayan Ranges
and peaks. Spend the day at Glacier return to Milam Village & night stay
Day 09 : MILAM VILLAGE MARTOLI. Overnight in Tents.
Day 10 : MARTOLI - LILAM. Overnight in Tents.
Day 11 : LILAM - MUNSIYARI - BAGESHWAR. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 12 : BAGESHWAR - HARIDWAR. Overnight in Hotel.
Day 13 : HARIDWAR - DELHI.
